On September 8, 2014, a message was playing all day long in my heart. The message was, “HIS BANNER OVER ME IS LOVE.” I found myself singing it and declaring it all throughout the day.
I have always believed that “His banner over me is love” meant to be under the love and protection of God. However, because this message was in my heart all day, I felt compelled to look further into what it meant. As I researched the meaning of the word ‘banner’ on the internet, I found the following:
- a long strip of cloth bearing a slogan or design and carried in a procession or hung in a public place
- a piece of cloth attached to a staff and used as a standard by a monarch
- a banner announces the name or identity of someone
- a banner was used as a rallying point or position
- a banner loudly and publicly proclaims a message
Now I understand that “HIS BANNER OVER ME IS LOVE” means much more than I realized. It means that King Jesus has a message He desires to loudly and publicly proclaim:
- that He is King of kings and Lord of Lords
- that He is our beloved Bridegroom proclaiming His everlasting love for us
- that He desires to gather us under His wings, close to His heart where we will find refuge and protection
- that He is calling us to come under His banner (canopy) to be joined together in oneness with Him as His Bride
Below are scriptures from the Amplified Bible:
Psalm 60:4-5
“You have set up a banner for those who fear You [with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder – a banner to shield them from attack], a banner that may be displayed because of the truth. That Your beloved ones may be rescued. Save with Your right hand and answer us.”
Song of Solomon 2:3-4
“Like an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved (shepherd) among the sons (cried the girl)! Under his shadow I delight to sit, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to his banqueting house, and his banner over me was love (for love waved as a protecting and comforting banner over my head when I was near him).”
I was also reminded of the vision I had years ago of people sleeping down in trenches until a trumpet sounded and they began to wake up and look up out of the trenches to see where the sound was coming from. When they looked up, they saw a standard (banner, flag) flying on the top of a hill. One by one, they climbed out of the trenches and made their way up the hill until they were all standing around the banner.
Then the Lord spoke this to me:
“The vision I gave you of people in trenches is about to be fulfilled. It is time to go out and proclaim My message of Love; to sound the trumpet and call people to come to My banner. It is a wakeup call that has begun to be trumpeted around the world. Will you sound this trumpet in your region? As the call goes forth, many will awaken and look up. They will rise up out of the holes in the ground and come forth to My love. My people will rise up as an army of love and will help Me bring in the greatest harvest of souls ever reaped upon the earth.”
As He spoke this word to me, in the Spirit I could see riders on horses holding trumpets and banners, riding out at full speed across the earth.
Note: the vision of people in trenches referred to in the above word from the Lord is located in the ‘Visions’ category called ‘Down in the Trenches’.

Dear Holly,
This song came to me this afternoon when I was thinking of a praise and worship song to sing to the Lord. I watched video by the Cedarmont kids and tears rolled down my eyes as I am reminded of how much the Lord loves us. Still, like you, I was curious about this ‘banner over me is love’. And so I am led to read your beautiful sharing. I think I am just beginning to catch a glimpse of the glorious love that God has for His people! Thank you Holly and the Lord bless you!

Hi Veronica,
Thank you so much for your comments.
May God lead you into even greater revelation of His wonderful love and draw you ever closer to His loving heart.
Holly
Dear Holly. Now, l’ve come to know how much He loves & cares for me. Thank you for sharing this life transforming vision. May the Lord add More grace to your elbow in Jesus name.
Hi Holly came to your site by accident as I was Googling for a deeper meaning for the phrase “His banner over me is love”. Really enjoyed your articles and even found one similar to a teaching I did on the 10 Virgins. I would definitely keep abreast with your blogs. I plan to get your book Heart to Heart. Thanks so much for sharing these visions and lessons. I pray more and more of the church will get to read what the Lord has given you to share.
Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. I am currently working on a second edition of Heart to Heart that will contain more of what God has been doing in my life, so if you are considering getting my book, you may want to wait until the second edition is completed.
May you be drawn into deeper intimacy with our wonderful Lord!
Holly
This verse has been echoing in my head for weeks.
I fully understand today the meaning of why. I’m 70 and my husband was diagnosed with covid today. He reminded, again, of His banner while waiting results in ER. Your blog is what I Googled.
Praise God, he is faithful.
I’m testing negative and trusting God to continue to protect me.
Thank you.
Hi Kathie,
Thank you for contacting us.
I am so sorry that your husband has been diagnosed with Covid-19. We will lift him up to God in prayer.
God has been giving you a message that He has you and your husband covered by His banner of love – a love so great that Jesus shed His blood to save, deliver and heal you. And, He wants you to know that you are covered by His love and His blood at all times and in all things. You belong to Him and He is always with you, holding you in His loving arms.
May God bless and keep you,
Holly
Yesterday and today, the “Cedarmont Kids” song, “His Banner over me is Love” is on my mind.
• I’ve long believed the bride is the group who is “crazy in love” with Jesus, and follows His Word. Not just those who know Who He Is.
• Reminds me of the saying of youth when a woman friend once said to me “I love you, but I’m not “in love” with you”. For us, the hopeful bride of Christ, it is the opposite; it is: “I Love you Jesus Christ, and I am in Love with you.” I feel like this is a key: to have a fire of being “in love” with Jesus Christ to know Him, His Prophecy, His Personality, His Love, His Faith, His desire for our growth. This is the oil which comes from contemplating His Word as we do here.
• Back to the :headphones: song: “He brought me to His banqueting house, his banner over me is love.”
• This is in Song of Songs 2:4, aka Song of Solomon 2:4 (I don’t know why that book seems as having two names).
• Dr. Barry Awe also taught SOS 2:4 as a rapture verse. And ìt immediately resonated with me as a “departure of the bride verse”, because we are “in love” with Him, and He puts a banner over us of “Love”.
• I feel Jesus re-names us as those in whom there is great love, like the wedding song that says “there is love” … “for what’s to be the reason for becoming man and wife”
• I googled “His banner over me is love”, and found this blog post from a sister who wrote that this is a rapture verse based on Holly Spirit insights she received. It is a beautiful blog post to read, and in the comments, there are others who feel the same as I, and who googled the words and found her blog. (I haven’t read her other posts).
I pray each one of us are “in love” with Jesus, and if we are not quite there yet, I pray that Heavenly Father guides us to that place in our heart.
Another resonance for me, related to the discussion around “Feast of new wine :wine_glass:” bride departure, which was a wow to me is that Dr. Awe brought to my attention is that the term in SOS 2:4 which says “banqueting house” really means … house of wine. :hushed: :star_struck: :raised_hands:
This would translate SOS 2:4 as “He (Christ Jesus) has brought me to His house of wine, and his banner over me is Love”. … Praise Jesus
Jesus said in Luke 22:18 tells us: “For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine (anew with you) until the kingdom of God shall come.”
:pray::dove::dove::pray::smiling_face_with_3_hearts:
I added the phrase “anew with you” because I thought I had originally learned that verse as using the word or phrase “anew”. I can’t find that wording anymore. But regardless, “anew” brings to mind to me “feast of new wine :wine_glass:”. So as a result, all this is my personal confirmation that the “feast of new wine” departure of the bride theory has strong credibility. The phrasing “departure” is my own, but I mean is the first rapture, which is the departure of the bride.
From Wikipedia:
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. “The banqueting house” is a rendering of the phrase bet hayyayin, which is only used here in the Bible, literally meaning “house of the wine”.
